Priya Darshini was born on December 25, 1983 in Mumbai, Maharahstra, India. She is known for her work on The Letters (2014), The Namesake - Zwei Welten, Eine Reise (2006) and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005).
She is a musician and has sung several songs in Bollywood Movies. She also collaborated with 5 time Grammy Award musician Roy Wooten aka Futureman as featured singer in his project ' Futureman & The Black Mozart Ensemble'. She and her parents are philanthropists and run a Non Profit organization in Mumbai, India called 'Jana Rakshita' that works with underprivileged people with cancer, focusing mainly on underprivileged children with cancer. As a young girl she accompanied her mother to hospitals often helping poor cancer patients and sometimes even bringing them home to care for them. Priya Darshini is an avid athlete and an Ultra marathoner. She is also the first and youngest Indian woman to run a 100 Mile race in the Himalayas considered to be one of the most difficult races in the world. She runs a company called The Windchasers that organizes Ultra Marathons in the Himalayas. When Tsunami hit the Asian shores on 26th December 2004, Darshini along with her family moved to the remote tsunami affected areas in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, India for a few months. They adopted 4 villages and 2 Dalit schools and helped rehabilitate and rebuild them.
